THE ELECTRIC FLOW -- ISSUE #2 -- LATE 2003

Friends,

It's Matthew. And this is the The Electric Flow.

Hannah & I just returned from another amazing multi-colored moment in Boulder with the group of Integral Artists that convene three times per year. Much energy is still unfolding from the event. Most notably, our group had our first public performance, which may have been one of the first truly integrally-informed group presentations ever. One-person acts, music, comedy, displayed visual art such as paintings, photography, and jewelry. Day Zero, silence. Day One, an entire world!

I want to let you know that an interview of yours truly appears in the inaugural issue of The Manifest, which is founded by my friend Paul Salamone. You can read Part I in the current issue, and Part II will be published in the next issue. Paul is a great person, talented journalist, and a joy with whom to work. I look forward to some astonishing music originating from The Manifest in the issues to come.

On a composing front, I have been wonderfully busy. Notably, I set the Rumi/Barks poem Where Everything is Music for spoken word, flute, and guitar. Alvar Audio featuring Matt DeMerritt performed the piece at the Boulder performance, and we will record it very soon. This was my first work ever for flute, and Matt was the perfect person to play it. What a blast we had. I look forward to working more with him in the future. With Matt Rentschler and Matt DeMerritt joining myself on stage, we were quickly dubbed The Mattriarchy.

Alvar Audio recorded 4 demo tracks, available for perusing at Kosmic River Bard Matt Rentschler's site, which is growing to be the official Alvar Audio cyber-locale.

Hannah and I are soon to record a version of integral poet Marco Morelli's work, Green Goddess: A Dance, for which I composed a solo guitar setting.

I have a new record coming down the pipe. Curious Brew + Works 2000-2003 is another of my "pluralistic" records. This one features 7 tracks by my jamband, 3 classical guitar works that form my new Suite for a New Family, a jazz guitar arrangement of Monk's Ruby, My Dear, three new chants performed by tenor superstar Matt O'Neill, and the You're Sleeping Motet for three singers, which is from the 16th C Italian Vocal worldview.

The Spiral Suite and Other Works 2001-2003 will be available very soon. You will be able to acquire both records in a variety of ways, so stay tuned to the website for those details.

Work continues on my book Living Art Up and Down: Essays on Integral Artistic Practice. Much thanks to those who have given me feedback on the excepts I have posted in my Writings Section.

The Chicago Kosmic Crew of Integral Artists looks to be forming a Chicago Integral Art Salon in the coming months. Look out!

So that's all 4 now. Continued thanks and bows for stopping by MatthewDallman.com! We are up to 60 countries! I send thank yous to every corner of the globe.

As we begin, we end as The Electric Flow. Be well.

Up and down in love,
Matthew
