Hey friends,
Round about eight months ago, the last issue of The Electric Flow let you all know that Hannah and I were going to have a baby. Well, it was quite a ride, filled with broken bones, a broken car, a lot of reading and study, a great birth-team of our midwife and our two doulas, and the wonderful support of family and friends near and far. And...she is here!
Twyla Christine Dallman was born at 9:15 AM, CST, on July 26th. Right on her due date. 7 lbs, 1 oz. 19.25 inches long. Mom and baby are doing awesome. (Daddy's not too bad, either.) Twyla is beautiful, very healthy, very hungry. We are both so proud, humbled, and so grateful for our little Twyla.
Hannah was a superhero throughout. I encourage you all to read Hannah's birth story, which is her account of the labor and birth of Twyla. Take a moment and check it out.
My album, I Am Sound is now onsale! I poured my heart and soul into this record over its 18 months of gestation. If you followed my blog during that time, you were present, basically, from concept to production.
I call my composition style American Contemplative. In the case of this record, it means both experimental and traditional, choral and instrumental, and within the American tradition yet open to a world ear. It is one voice with many tones. Buy it and support independent music. Each album you buy allows me to make more records down the line. So enjoy now, invest in the future, and we all party in the hot tub of consciousness.
Preview and purchase I Am sound through CDBaby and iTunes.
III. "Theme For A Baby Bird"
Finally, a bit of brand new music. I've been playfully exploring the combination of acoustic and electronic, through use of my piano and my drum machine. I particular enjoy the fast tempos of drum'n'bass/jungle, which I find worthy for both dancing and contemplation.
This piece is premiered right here, in this newsletter just for y'all. I hope you enjoy it. It will go up on my site at some point soon. There is more music of this kind if you go to www.matthewdallman.com/music.html.
